This includes the provision of a simple unsubscribe procedure. Unsubscribe links are currently positioned at very different places within the newsletters. For this reason, we aim to promote a standard procedure that allows recipients to cancel their subscriptions conveniently and directly. User-friendly unsubscribe procedure Inxmail supports the standardised unsubscribe procedure of Windows Live Hotmail and Google Mail, which is based on the “List-Unsubscribe” email header. It gives recipients the additional option of cancelling their subscriptions in the user interface of the webmailer program, without having to search for the unsubscribe link within the newsletter. The “Unsubscribe from mailing lists” add-on developed by Inxmail makes the standardised unsubscribe procedure available for the desktop email client Mozilla Thunderbird. Mozilla Thunderbird users can download the add-on for free, and use it entirely independently of Inxmail Professional. Practice has shown that many recipients prefer to use the “Mark as spam/Report spam” function if they wish to cancel their subscription. The result is that the mailer’s good reputation with the Internet service providers is jeopardised, and so too is deliverability in the long term. The new unsubscribe procedure decreases these false spam complaints and therefore ensures deliverability of future campaigns.
